Welcome to Ed Wright’s Hiking Logs of Mt. Leconte

Hikes to Mt Leconte

I was introduced to the Alum Cave Bluff Trail in September of 1982. My youngest son, Bob and his shipmate Carl Miller, were home, on leave from the Navy. They were crew members aboard a Nuclear Powered Submarine.

Mt Leconte Trail History

The Alum Cave Bluffs Trail is one of the most beautiful and easily accessible trails for day hikers, as well as, overnight hikers. The trail leaves the Newfound Gap Road (U.S. Highway No. 441) at the Alum Cave Bluffs parking area, approximately nine miles south of the Sugarlands Visitor Center or four miles north of Newfound Gap.

More than 1,001 Hikes

Ed Wright kept logs of all of his hikes on Mt. Leconte. Here you can purchase the full account of his hikes.
