010. June 27, 1967 with Mark Ross, grandson, aged five, Bob Stevenson, husband, Frank and Dorothy Nann, Margaret Swann, and Clare Aldred via Alum Bluff. Stayed overnight at the Lodge. Returned the same way.
011. June 3, 1968 after a hard rain, with Mark and Steve Ross, grandsons, aged six and four, Bob Stevenson, and Dot Nann ( who joined us at the Bluff while we were eating lunch.) The Sand Myrtle was in bloom. We stayed overnight at the Lodge. Mark and I went to Myrtle Point in the afternoon. We all went to Cliff Top after dinner. We returned the same way, with a stop at Heath Bald. Beautiful morning. 9:15 to 1:15.
012. June 2, 1969 with Mark and Steve Ross, and Bob Stevenson, via Alum Bluff, staying overnight at LeConte Lodge.

June 5, 1970 via Alum Bluff with Patty Spivey, Jane and Janet Foy, Billy Faggart, Joni Collins, Bobby Franks and Dorothy Nann. 11:00 to 2:30 with lunch at Heath Bald, interrupted by a brief shower. We stayed overnight. I walked to Cliff Top and Myrtle Point in the afternoon. Several of us went to Cliff Top and the shelter before breakfast. Returned via Alum Bluff 9:10 to 11:40.
015. July 14, 1970 via Alum Bluff with Mark and Steve Ross and Bob Stevenson for overnight, returning the same way.
Trip not counted: April 6, 1971 via Boulevard Trail in deep snow. Six of my high school young people made it to the Lodge. I had to take Jane and Janet Foy back because of the snow. On April 7th, I walked up the Rainbow Falls Trail to meet the group, but they didn't get down until much later.
016. July 20, 1971 via Alum Bluff, to stay at the Lodge overnight with Mark and Steve Ross and Bob Stevenson, Ruth, Phil, Linda and Steve Ewald, returning on the Boulevard Trail.
017. September 13, 1971 up Alum Bluff Trail and back on the Boulevard Trail with fourteen of the Tryon Trail Trotters and Phil Ewald of Knoxville.
018. June 6, 1972 Overnight trip to LeConte Lodge via Alum Bluff with Jane and Janet Foy, Jeanne Cloud, Billy Faggart, Ernest Doughty, John Mize, and Kyle West, high school students. Hard rain at dinner time.
019. July 20, 1972 Overnight trip to LeConte Lodge with the Bonesteel and Ewald families, Dorothy Nann, Bob Stevenson. Mark and Steve Ros. 10:00 to 2:00 with lunch at Heath Bald. Returned the same way.
020. July 19, 1973 via Alum Bluff with Lois and Claire Stevenson, my nieces. 9:00 to 11:30 to Cliff Top. Down the same way from 12:30 to 2:30. We met a bear.
021. April 17, 1974 via Porter's Creek and the manway to Dry Sluice Gap in snow, then to Charlie's Bunion, the Boulevard Trail to LeConte Lodge, returning on the Trillium Gap Trail to Porter's Creek Trailhead in Greenbrier Cove. 8:45 to 6:30. Twenty-three miles.
022. June 19, 1974 via Alum Bluff with Peggy McCurry and Virginia Ellis. 9:00 to 4:15
023. June 29, 1974 via Alum Bluff with Bob Stevenson, Fred and Margaret Swann, Frank and Dorothy Nann with lunch at the Pulpit. Met the Blatt family. I went to Cliff Top. Bob and I returned the same way. 4:30 to 7:00. The others stayed overnight.
024. August 3, 1974 via Alum Bluff with Emmit Rawls of Alcoa and Mr. Hori of Japan. Some rain. We went to Cliff Top (Cold!). Ate lunch at the Lodge.

085. December 28, 1978 Rainbow Falls to Lodge and Cliff Top. Tim Line joined us for lunch. I did the last part twice, looking for Lois Stevenson, my niece, and Joey Mayne. The others were Don and Sheila Mayne, Claire Stevenson, and Alan Mayne, who returned to the car, not going all the way. The ice on the Boulevard Trail was very bad. I almost slid off the trail, when I was crawling across one short section! 8:05 to 3:05.
086. March 7, 1979 via Alum Bluff to Cliff Top, returning to the Lodge for lunch on the porch of the recreation building. Snow was falling. There was some on the trail. Ralph Collins, Dot Spears, and Mary Ann Bridenbaugh were with me. 9:20 to 3:00.

Francy and Tex Cash, Elaine Kant provided transportation, as did Martha and Bob Frink, who didn't go with us. We saw Pansy Duke of Tampa again, and met Stephanie, Christine, Margaret and Howard Mays, Phil Hummel and Bakers. 9:10 to 11:45 to climb up, 9:00 to 12:45 to return.

Clouds below, but sky clear on top. Went with Elisabeth and Barbara Melton. October 22 went out to Myrtle Point for sunrise at 7:41. Returned on Trillium Gap Trail, going up to Brushy Mountain, back via Grotto Falls and the bridle trail to Cherokee Orchard. The McCarters and Humphrey's also made the trip.

We ate in the office, around the stove, talking with Tim and Lisa, who were rejoicing about the first snow of the season. When the clouds moved out, we could see Douglas Lake and the surrounding area better than I had ever seen it. The leaf color at the lower elevation was brilliant! 9:00 to 5:15. 18 miles.
