A few Photo's from Larry Wright and friend's hike to LeConte 11-14/15-07

Larry just sent me a dozen photo's that he took during their hike earlier this week. this morning, November 15, 2007, the temperature at the lodge was 10 degrees F. with 3" of new snow. I will just make up text to match the photo's.

The thermometer on the Office wall read about 20 degrees.

 

There were snow and Ice on Cliff Top.

 

Climbing up was easier than getting back down.

 

Snow had blown onto the porches of the cabins.

 

Fun walking in the snow near the LeConte Shelter.

 

Lots of snow at the LeConte Shelter but no hikers.

 

We stopped by the shelter for a while.

 

The safety cables were put to good use on the hike down.

 

The new slide at Grassy Slide was NOT Grassy but icy.

 

The trail along Grassy Slide was icy.

 

Visibility from Grassy Slide was very limited.
