Bill Keeton's August 2006 hike to the lodge to see the work on the cabins
Hi Ed,

Congratulations on 1300. The more I hike Alum Cave trail the more I can appreciate what you have done.I had a good walk Thursday. There were a lot of people on the trail. From talking with a few of them I think the lodge was probably a sell out.I got a late start but I managed to do it in about four hours and fifteen minutes. That is about as good as I can do. My next step is to try to match you record of three trips in a day. That will take some work. When I left the car the temp was 89. Just after I passed the upper stairs I got to enjoy a great rain shower. It rained as hard as I have seen in a long time. I didn’t stop to put my rain gear on because I was already wet with sweat and it felt good. When I got to the lodge it was a refreshing 61 degrees. The crew has really been working hard making improvements  all around. They have added porches to at least 3 cabins. The rocking chairs sure looked inviting. It was mostly overcast all day but nevertheless it was another great day in the mountains. Thanks, hope you can come back soon.

Bill
